What this MCCB carries — and where it fits
The Siemens 3VA2116-5JQ32-0JH0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker rated for 160 A continuous at 40 °C, with a 3-pole line-protection design. Its interrupting capacity reaches 187 kA at 240 V, 121 kA at 415 V and 440 V, 75.6 kA at 500 V, and 3.7 kA at 690 V — so the SCCR headroom drops fast above 500 V; at 690 V the breaker is still rated but the available fault current must stay under 3.7 kA. The continuous rating holds flat at 160 A from 40 °C through 70 °C, which simplifies derating in warm enclosures — no need to recalculate for a panel that runs at 55 °C. It ships with a built-in communication function and includes a basic switch (order code 3VA21165JQ320AA0), plus two auxiliary switches and one trip-alarm switch (HQ) plus a shunt trip release (STL). That means the breaker can report its status to a PLC or BMS without an external interface module.
Panel fit and integration
Dimensions are 181 mm high, 105 mm wide, 86 mm deep — a standard SENTRON 3VA footprint for 160 A frame. It mounts on a DIN rail or panel-mount adapter; the 3-pole body leaves room for side-mounted auxiliary switches without crowding adjacent breakers in a multi-unit lineup. Power loss is 25.5 W maximum — relevant for thermal budgeting inside a sealed enclosure; at 160 A load the dissipation is manageable but should be factored into the cabinet cooling calculation.
