What it is and what it does
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2116-5JQ36-0AK0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) with an adjustable thermal-magnetic trip unit covering 32 A to 256 A, factory-set at 160 A. That 160 A rating holds across the full ambient range of 40 °C to 70 °C — no derating needed in a warm panel. Breaking capacity at 415 V is 121 kA, which covers most industrial fault levels upstream of a transformer or generator. At 240 V it rises to 187 kA; at 690 V it drops to 3.7 kA — the part is sized for low-voltage distribution, not 690 V motor circuits. It ships with one auxiliary switch, one trip alarm switch, and one electrical alarm switch (HQ type), plus a communication function for remote status or integration into a BMS or PLC. No undervoltage release is fitted on this variant.
Where it fits in the panel
The breaker measures 86 mm deep, 105 mm wide, and 181 mm tall — a standard 3-pole MCCB footprint for DIN-rail or screw-mount panel integration. The 86 mm depth leaves clearance for rear-connected busbars in a typical distribution cabinet. Rated insulation voltage is 800 V, so it can be used in 480 V or 600 V systems with full voltage margin. Storage temperature range of -40 °C to 80 °C means it can sit in an unheated warehouse before commissioning.
