What this breaker is and what it does
The Siemens 3VA2116-5KP32-0AB0 is a 3-pole IEC molded-case circuit breaker on the 160 A frame, fitted with an ETU850 electronic trip unit offering LSI protection (long-time, short-time, instantaneous). Its headline breaking capacity is 55 kA at 415 V AC — class M on the 3VA2 platform — which means it can safely interrupt fault currents up to that level without cascading damage upstream in the distribution board. The overload protection (Ir) is adjustable from 63 A to 160 A, and the short-time pickup (Isd) ranges from 0.6× to 10× In, with instantaneous pickup (Ii) from 1.5× to 10× In. That range of adjustability lets this breaker cover motor feeders, transformer primaries, or general distribution where coordination with downstream devices matters.
Integration notes for panel builders
This breaker mounts on a DIN rail or can be screw-fixed to a backplate in the standard IEC enclosure footprint. The nut keeper kit and two HP auxiliary switches are included, so you have the switching status feedback wired before the breaker goes into the panel. Neutral conductor protection is optional and requires an external current transformer — plan for that if your distribution scheme calls for 4-pole sensing on a 3-pole breaker.
