SENTRON 3VA2 MCCB — 160 A, 3-Pole, Line Protection
The Siemens 3VA2116-5KP32-0DC0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 160 A continuous current, built for line protection in three-phase distribution. It carries a 3-pole design and includes an undervoltage release (UVR) as standard, plus a communication function for integration into monitored networks. Breaking capacity is rated 187 kA at 240 V, 121 kA at 415 V and 440 V, 75.6 kA at 500 V, and 3.7 kA at 690 V — so at typical 400 V distribution voltages it clears fault currents well above most panel SCCR requirements without cascading upstream. The breaker ships with two HQ auxiliary switches and the undervoltage release pre-installed; the basic switch model is 3VA21165KP320AA0. No ground-fault monitoring module is included on this variant.
Panel Fit and Thermal Performance
Dimensions are 105 mm wide, 181 mm tall, and 86 mm deep — the width is standard for a 3-pole SENTRON 3VA2 frame, so it drops into existing 3VA2 panel cutouts without modification. Depth of 86 mm (3.39 in) leaves clearance for rear-access wiring in a standard 200 mm deep enclosure. Continuous current rating of 160 A holds flat from 40 °C through 70 °C ambient — no derating needed across typical panel operating temperatures. Maximum power loss is 28 W, manageable with natural convection in most enclosures. Operating temperature range is -25 °C to 70 °C; storage range is -40 °C to 80 °C. The unit is designed for fixed installation in distribution boards — no DIN-rail mounting on this frame size.
