What it is and what it does
The Siemens 3VA2116-6HL32-0BC0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) designed for line protection in 3-phase distribution panels. It carries a continuous current rating of 160 A across the full ambient range from 40 °C to 70 °C — no derating needed up to that ceiling, which simplifies panel layout when the breaker sits near other heat sources. Rated interrupting capacity hits 242 kA at 240 V and 187 kA at 415 V, so it handles high-fault scenarios common in industrial main feeders without cascading upstream. At 690 V the rating drops to 3.7 kA — that's the limit for that voltage class; don't spec it for 690 V distribution unless the available fault current is well below that figure.
Physical fit and panel integration
Dimensions are 105 mm wide, 181 mm tall, 86 mm deep — a standard 3-pole MCCB footprint that fits most DIN-rail or panel-mount enclosures. The 86 mm depth leaves room behind the door for wiring gutters and auxiliary wiring.
Built-in auxiliaries
Factory-fitted with an undervoltage release (UVR) and two auxiliary switches (HQ type). The UVR trips the breaker when control voltage drops, which is standard for emergency-stop or undervoltage protection schemes. No communication module on this variant — it's a pure line-protection device without remote monitoring.
