MCCB for line protection — 160 A, 242 kA at 240 V
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2116-6HL32-0HA0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) designed for line protection, rated 160 A continuous current and delivering a 242 kA interrupting capacity at 240 V. That interrupting rating drops to 187 kA at 415 V and 440 V, and 121 kA at 500 V — still high enough for most secondary distribution panels. At 690 V it's rated 3.7 kA, which narrows the application to low-fault locations on 690 V systems. The thermal-magnetic trip holds its full 160 A rating from 40 °C up through 70 °C, so no derating needed in a warm enclosure.
Panel fit and footprint
Mounts on a standard DIN rail or panel-mount base. Dimensions are 105 mm wide, 181 mm tall, and 86 mm deep — that depth is the body only; account for the shunt trip (STL) auxiliary release projecting from the side. The supplied basic switch is 3VA21166HL320AA0, which means the core interrupter is the same across several 3VA2116 variants; the order code suffix adds the shunt trip and line-protection design.
