What the ratings mean for fit
The Siemens 3VA2116-6HL32-0KF0 is a 3-pole IEC molded-case circuit breaker on a 160 A frame, rated for a breaking capacity of 85 kA at 415 V AC (class H). That Icu figure tells you it can safely interrupt fault currents up to 85 kA without welding or rupturing — critical for high-fault installations like transformer secondaries or large motor control centers where available fault current exceeds typical 25–50 kA ratings. The ETU320 electronic trip unit provides LI protection: long-time (overload) adjustable from 63 A to 160 A, and short-time (instantaneous) adjustable from 1.5× to 10× In. That adjustability lets you coordinate selectivity with downstream feeders without swapping trip units.
Built-in accessories and panel integration
This breaker ships with a factory-installed shunt trip on the left side, rated 208–277 V AC 50/60 Hz and 220–250 V DC, plus one auxiliary switch (changeover contact). The shunt trip allows remote emergency-off or undervoltage release without adding a separate accessory module — saves a DIN-rail slot in the enclosure. The nut keeper kit is included, which simplifies mounting in panelboards where the breaker bolts to a bus adapter rather than a DIN rail. The 3VA2 frame uses the same mounting footprint as the earlier 3VL series, so retrofit into existing Siemens panelboards is straightforward.
