MCCB for high-fault panel feeds
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2116-6HN32-0AB0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated 160 A continuous at 40 °C, carrying a line-protection designation and an ETU350 electronic trip unit. Its interrupting capacity hits 242 kA at 240 V and 187 kA at 415 V — figures that put it in the high-fault tier, sized for main feeders in industrial switchboards where available fault current exceeds what a standard MCCB can clear. The ETU350 release provides adjustable long-time, short-time, and instantaneous protection bands, which is the deciding factor for selective coordination downstream. With no undervoltage release, no voltage trigger, and no communication function, this is a straight power-feed breaker — no auxiliary logic riding on it.
Footprint and panel fit
Dimensions: 181 mm high, 105 mm wide, 86 mm deep. The 105 mm width is the standard 3-pole MCCB footprint for this frame size — it occupies the same panel cutout as other 3VA2 160 A frames. The 86 mm depth means it clears a 100 mm deep enclosure with room for rear-connected busbars or a cable entry gland plate. IP40 on the front face; the breaker is intended for indoor panel mounting, not washdown zones.
Thermal performance across the range
Rated 160 A continuously from 40 °C through 70 °C ambient — no derating needed up to that ceiling. Power loss at full load is 25.5 W maximum. Storage range spans -40 °C to 80 °C, operating range -25 °C to 70 °C. The auxiliary contact version ships with 2 HP auxiliary switches, which is the standard complement for status feedback to a PLC or SCADA input.
