Line protection MCCB with ETU350 — 160 A, 242 kA SCCR
The Siemens 3VA2116-6HN32-0AC0 is a 3-pole SENTRON molded case circuit breaker rated for line protection, carrying a continuous current Iu of 160 A and an interrupting capacity of 242 kA at 240 V, 187 kA at 415 V, and 121 kA at 500 V. At 690 V the rating drops to 5 kA — that's the voltage you need to watch for high-impedance fault scenarios in 690 V distribution. The electronic trip unit is an ETU350, which gives you adjustable long-time, short-time, instantaneous, and ground-fault protection curves — no voltage trigger or undervoltage release on this variant, so coordination is done entirely through the trip unit settings.
Thermal derating and panel fit
At 40 °C, 45 °C, and 50 °C the breaker holds the full 160 A without derating. At 55 °C it drops to 154 A, at 60 °C to 148 A, at 65 °C to 142 A, and at 70 °C to 136 A. For a panel that runs warm — say a packed enclosure with drives — the 55 °C derate is the one to budget against. Dimensions: 105 mm wide, 181 mm high, 86 mm deep. That 86 mm depth is shallow enough for most 200 mm deep enclosures; just watch the gland plate clearance if you're running cables behind the breaker. Front protection is IP40 — fine for a clean panel environment, not rated for washdown or outdoor exposure. The auxiliary contact version fitted is 2 auxiliary switches HQ, and the breaker includes a latching endurance of 20 000 cycles.
