MCCB for high-fault panels
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2116-6HN32-0AH0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for 160 A continuous current across the full 40–70 °C ambient range — no derating needed up to that ceiling. Its interrupting capacity hits 242 kA at 240 V and 187 kA at 415/440 V, making it a fit for high-fault utility or industrial service-entrance panels where SCCR headroom is tight. The 86 mm depth and 105 mm width keep it within standard MCCB footprints for retrofit into existing SENTRON or competitive switchboards.
Breaking capacity and selectivity
At 690 V the breaking capacity drops to 3.7 kA — this breaker is designed for low-voltage distribution up to 500 V where it still delivers 121 kA. The 160 A frame and 800 V rated insulation voltage support line protection in 400 V class switchgear with full selectivity against downstream 63 A MCCBs when coordinated per IEC 60947-2.
Auxiliary switching and monitoring
Factory-fitted with 2 auxiliary switches plus a trip alarm switch (HQ type), the breaker reports open/closed and tripped status without an external module. The basic switch core is order code 3VA21166HN320AA0. There is no undervoltage release or ground-fault monitoring on this variant — those are separate order-code options within the 3VA2 family.
Operating environment and power loss
Runs from -25 °C to 70 °C ambient, stores from -40 °C to 80 °C. Maximum power dissipation is 25.5 W at rated load — plan for ventilation or spacing in dense panels. The 181 mm height and 105 mm width match standard MCCB cutouts; the 86 mm depth leaves room for rear-connection busbars.
