What this MCCB delivers on the line
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2116-6HN32-0DA0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for 160 A continuous current across the full 40 °C to 70 °C ambient range — no derating needed as the panel warms up. Its interrupting capacity hits 242 kA at 240 V AC and still holds 187 kA at 415 V, so it handles high-fault utility feeds without cascading upstream. The built-in undervoltage release (UVR) trips the breaker if control voltage drops, which is a common requirement for emergency-stop circuits and safety disconnects.
Breaking capacity and selectivity headroom
At 240 V the 242 kA rating is well above typical service-entrance fault levels, giving you selectivity headroom for downstream branch breakers. At 690 V the rating drops to 3.7 kA — still adequate for most 690 V motor circuits, but verify coordination if the fault current exceeds that. The 800 V rated insulation voltage (Ui) means the breaker can be used in 480 V and 600 V class systems with margin.
Panel fit and integration
The breaker measures 105 mm wide, 181 mm tall, and 86 mm deep — a standard 3-pole MCCB footprint for DIN-rail or panel-mount enclosures. The undervoltage release is factory-installed; no separate module to order. Line protection design means it is set up for feeder duty out of the box, not motor protection (no thermal-magnetic adjustment range). If you need adjustable overloads, look at the 3VA2 with electronic trip units.
