What this MCCB delivers on the line
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2116-6HN32-0DL0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for 160 A continuous current (Iu) with a line protection profile — meaning it's tuned for feeder and main distribution duty, not motor branch protection. The ETU350 electronic trip unit gives you adjustable overload and short-circuit curves, plus an integrated undervoltage release (UVR) that drops the breaker when control voltage falls below the dropout threshold. Breaking capacity is the headline here: 242 kA at 240 V AC, 187 kA at 415 V and 440 V, 121 kA at 500 V, and still 5 kA at 690 V. That's a serious SCCR rating — it can interrupt fault currents up to 242 kA without welding or cascading failure upstream. For a 160 A frame, that's high-end interrupting capability, suited for high-fault utility feeds or transformer secondaries. Thermal derating is published: full 160 A from 40 °C through 50 °C, then steps down to 154 A at 55 °C, 148 A at 60 °C, 142 A at 65 °C, and 136 A at 70 °C. If your panel ambient runs above 50 °C, size the breaker for the derated value — not the nameplate 160 A.
Panel fit and mounting
Footprint is 105 mm wide, 181 mm tall, 86 mm deep — standard SENTRON 3VA2 fixed-mount dimensions. Bolts directly to a backplate or mounts on a DIN rail via the optional adapter. The 86 mm depth leaves clearance for gland plates and rear cable entry; watch the bend radius on 160 A cable lugs. Auxiliary contact block is populated: 2 auxiliary switches + 1 trip alarm switch + 1 electrical alarm switch HQ. That covers remote status feedback and alarm annunciation without adding a separate module. The undervoltage release (UVR) is built in, so you don't need to order it separately — it's part of the -0DL0 suffix.
