MCCB for high-fault panels
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2116-6JP36-0AA0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for a continuous current of 160 A across the full ambient range from 40 °C to 70 °C — no derating needed up to that ceiling. The ETU550 electronic trip unit gives you adjustable long-time (tr) from 0.5 to 20 s and short-time (tsd) up to 0.5 s, so you can shape the curve for selective coordination downstream. Breaking capacity sits at 242 kA at 240 V and 187 kA at 415 V — that's SCCR headroom for high-fault industrial panels where a main breaker must clear a bolted fault without upstream devices seeing it. At 690 V the rating drops to 3.8 kA, which is still adequate for most 690 V motor circuits in IEC territory.
Integration and mounting
Dimensions are 105 mm wide, 181 mm tall, and 86 mm deep — fits a standard MCCB footprint on a DIN rail or panel-mount plate. The IP40 front protection means it's suited for enclosed panels where the door provides the environmental seal. Rated insulation voltage is 800 V, which covers 480/277 V and 600 V systems with margin. Maximum power loss is 25.5 W — relevant for thermal calculations in a densely populated enclosure. Latching endurance is rated at 20 000 operations, so it's not a daily-switching device; it's a distribution breaker for infrequent manual operation or fault clearing.
