What this breaker is and what it handles
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2116-7HL42-0AA0 is a 4-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 160 A continuous current across the full 40 °C to 70 °C ambient range — no derating needed in a warm panel. It carries a 330 kA interrupting capacity at 240 V, dropping to 242 kA at 415 V and 440 V, then 187 kA at 500 V, and 3.7 kA at 690 V. That 330 kA figure at 240 V puts it squarely in the high-fault category for large distribution or industrial service-entrance applications where available fault current is serious. The ETU320 electronic trip unit gives you adjustable long-time, short-time, and instantaneous protection curves — not a fixed thermal-magnetic, so you can coordinate selectively downstream.
Panel fit and mounting
Dimensions are 181 mm tall, 140 mm wide, 86 mm deep. That 86 mm depth is shallow enough to fit in a standard 200 mm deep enclosure with room for wiring gutters. The 140 mm width for a 4-pole frame is typical for this class — check your existing busbar or lug spacing if you're retrofitting into a panel cut for a narrower 3-pole breaker. Front IP40 protection means it's fine for dry indoor panels; no washdown rating.
