160 A MCCB with ETU320 — current production, panel-ready
The Siemens 3VA2116-8HL46-0AA0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker rated for 160 A continuous current across the full ambient range from 40 °C to 70 °C — no derating needed up to that ceiling. Four poles, line protection version, fitted with the ETU320 electronic trip unit. The 440 kA interrupting rating at 240 V (330 kA at 415 V, 220 kA at 500 V, 53 kA at 690 V) gives substantial SCCR headroom for most industrial distribution panels without needing a current-limiting upstream device. Mounts on a DIN rail or directly to a backplate — the 140 mm width and 86 mm depth fit standard SENTRON 3VA2 panel cutouts. IP40 on the front means it's protected against solid objects larger than 1 mm; fine for enclosed switchboards but not for washdown environments.
Trip unit and protection profile
The ETU320 release is an electronic trip unit with adjustable long-time pickup and delay (tr adjustable from 0.5 s to 17 s). Neutral protection configurable: OFF, 50%, or 100% of phase rating. No ground-fault monitoring on this version — if that's needed, you'd step to a variant with the G option. Rated insulation voltage is 800 V, so it's comfortable on 690 V systems with margin.
