What it is and what it does
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2116-8HM32-0AA0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for line protection duty. It carries 160 A continuously across the full ambient range from 40 °C to 70 °C without derating — that flat thermal curve simplifies panel sizing because you do not need to uprate for a warm enclosure. The ETU330 electronic trip unit provides adjustable overload and short-circuit protection curves. Insulation voltage is rated 800 V, and the interrupting ratings climb to 440 kA at 240 V, 330 kA at 415/440 V, 220 kA at 500 V, and 52.5 kA at 690 V — numbers that tell you this breaker is built for high-fault-capacity industrial mains, not branch panels.
Fit and integration
At 105 mm wide × 181 mm high × 86 mm deep, this MCCB occupies a standard SENTRON 3VA2 frame footprint. Front protection is IP40 — fine for a clean indoor panel; no washdown rating, so keep it behind a gland plate or enclosure door. An optional motor drive extension is available for remote switching if the application needs it. Maximum power dissipation is 19.7 W — modest for a 160 A frame, but worth including in the panel thermal budget if several breakers sit side by side.
