What the ratings mean for fit
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2116-8KQ46-0AA0 is a 4-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for line protection in distribution panels. Its 160 A rated continuous current (Iu) holds flat from 40 °C through 70 °C — no derating needed across that band, which simplifies panel thermal budgeting. The breaking capacity at 240 V AC is 440 kA, dropping to 330 kA at 415 V and 440 V, 220 kA at 500 V, and 53 kA at 690 V. That 440 kA figure at 240 V covers high-fault utility feeds; the 53 kA at 690 V still clears most industrial fault levels. The ETU860 electronic trip unit provides adjustable long-time delay (tr) from 0.5 s to 20 s, plus ground-fault summation on L+N. Communication function is built in — no separate module needed for remote monitoring. Front IP40 protects against tool entry in the panel.
Integration into the panel
Dimensions are 181 mm high, 140 mm wide, 86 mm deep — a standard 4-pole MCCB footprint for DIN-rail or screw-mount backplate. The 19.7 W maximum power loss at rated current must be factored into enclosure thermal calculations, especially in sealed cabinets. Operating temperature range is -40 °C to 70 °C; storage range is -40 °C to 80 °C.
