What this MCCB is and what it does
The Siemens 3VA2125-5JP32-0AA0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for line protection in distribution panels. It carries a continuous current Iu of 25 A across the full ambient range from 40 °C to 70 °C — no derating needed up to that ceiling. The interrupting capacity hits 187 kA at 240 V and 121 kA at 415 V, so it handles high-fault service-entrance or sub-distribution duty where the available fault current is substantial. The ETU550 electronic trip unit gives adjustable long-time, short-time, and instantaneous protection curves, plus ground-fault alarm capability. Communication function is built in, which means it talks to a BMS or PLC without an add-on module.
Physical fit and panel integration
The breaker measures 105 mm wide by 86 mm deep by 181 mm tall. That 105 mm width is three pole spaces on a standard DIN rail — no surprises when you lay it into a multi-breaker lineup. The IP40 front protection means it's fine for a dry indoor enclosure; keep the gland plate sealed if there's any condensation risk. Power loss is only 0.6 W, so heat buildup in a crowded panel is negligible.
Trip unit and protection capabilities
The ETU550 is an electronic release with LSIG protection — long-time, short-time, instantaneous, and ground-fault. That's more granular than a thermal-magnetic breaker, so you can coordinate with downstream devices on a selective system. The ground-fault monitoring version is listed as 'Without' on this order code, meaning the base unit doesn't include internal GF sensing; if you need integral ground-fault, the ETU550 platform supports it via a different variant. The optional motor drive lets you add remote open/close for automated transfer schemes.
