What this MCCB does — and what the ratings mean for fit
The Siemens 3VA2125-6KP32-0AA0 is a 3-pole SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 25 A continuous current across the full ambient range from 40 °C to 70 °C — no derating needed up to that ceiling. The 242 kA breaking capacity at 240 V AC means it can safely interrupt a fault current up to that level without the arc flashing over or the breaker rupturing; at 415 V and 440 V it still holds 187 kA, dropping to 121 kA at 500 V and 3.8 kA at 690 V. That's a high-interrupting-capacity (HIC) device, sized for main feeders or large subfeeders where the available fault current is substantial. The ETU850 electronic trip unit gives you adjustable long-time (tr) from 0.5 to 25 seconds and short-time (tsd) up to 0.5 s, so you can coordinate selectively with downstream breakers. That's the kind of curve shaping you need for a distribution panel, not just a branch-circuit snap. The 800 V rated insulation voltage (Ui) confirms it's rated for 690 V line-to-line systems with margin. Communication function is onboard, so it can talk to a building management or SCADA system — no separate comm module required. Mounts on a panel or in an enclosure — the 105 mm width, 181 mm height, and 86 mm depth (4.1 by 7.1 by 3.4 inches) fit the standard SENTRON 3VA footprint. The IP40 front protection means it's protected against tools and wires >1 mm, but it's not sealed against moisture; keep it in a dry indoor enclosure.
Panel integration and mechanical fit
Three-pole MCCB, 105 mm wide, so it occupies three 35 mm DIN-rail spaces (or a bolt-on mounting plate). The 86 mm depth leaves room for wiring gutters in a standard 200 mm deep enclosure. Latching endurance rated at 20,000 operations — that's a mechanical life figure, not the electrical endurance under load (which will be lower at full rated current). Power loss is 0.6 W maximum — negligible for thermal budgeting inside a sealed panel, but worth noting if you're stacking dozens of breakers in a compact MCC. Storage temperature range is -40 °C to 80 °C; operating range is -40 °C to 70 °C, so it's fine for unheated warehouses or outdoor enclosures in temperate climates as long as the IP40 front is protected from rain.
