What this MCCB delivers in the panel
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2140-5KQ36-0AA0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for 40 A continuous current, designed for line protection in distribution panels. Its interrupting capacity hits 187 kA at 240 V and still holds 121 kA at 415 V and 440 V — meaning it handles high-fault scenarios without cascading upstream. At 690 V the rating drops to 3.7 kA, so verify system voltage before committing the BOM line. Thermal performance is flat across the operating range: no derating from 40 °C up to 70 °C ambient. That simplifies panel layout — no need to oversize for a hot enclosure next to drives or transformers. Storage range from -40 °C to 80 °C covers cold warehouses and shipping containers.
Footprint and integration
Dimensions: 181 mm high, 105 mm wide, 86 mm deep. Fits standard panel cutouts for 3-pole SENTRON MCCBs. Spring-cage terminals accept 0.2–2.5 mm² solid or ferruled stranded — strip length 8 mm avoids whiskers under the cage. Communication function is built in (Ethernet or PROFIBUS via optional module), and ground-fault monitoring uses summation current formation on the L-conductor. No undervoltage release fitted on this variant. Power loss is 1.6 W maximum — negligible for thermal budgeting even in densely packed panels. Rated insulation voltage is 800 V, giving headroom for 690 V systems.
