Motor protection MCCB with high interrupting capacity
The Siemens 3VA2140-5MN36-0AA0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) designed specifically for motor protection, rated 40 A continuous at 40 °C and carrying a 187 kA interrupting capacity at 240 V. That interrupting rating drops to 121 kA at 415 V and 75.6 kA at 500 V, so it handles high-fault-current industrial distribution panels where the available short-circuit current is substantial. The 3-pole construction with phase failure detection built in means it will trip on a lost phase before the motor single-phases and burns out — a common failure mode in older plant feeders. The adjustable trip class (10A, 10E, 20E) lets you match the thermal curve to the motor start profile: 10A for short acceleration times like pumps, 20E for high-inertia loads like centrifuges or large fans.
