The Siemens 3VA2140-6KP46-0AA0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker rated 40 A continuous with a 4-pole configuration. It carries the ETU850 electronic trip unit and is designed for line protection. Breaking capacity reaches 242 kA at 240 V, 187 kA at 415 V and 440 V, 121 kA at 500 V, and 3.7 kA at 690 V. That 242 kA at 240 V means it can safely interrupt very high fault currents typical at the service entrance or in large distribution panels without upstream cascading. The adjustable current range spans 60 A minimum to 480 A maximum, giving the integrator room to coordinate with downstream breakers. The 40 A continuous rating holds flat from 40 °C up to 70 °C (–), so no derating is needed in a warm enclosure — a practical advantage for a panel stuffed with heat-generating gear.
Panel fit and integration
Dimensions are 181 mm height, 140 mm width, and 86 mm depth. The 140 mm width is a standard 4-pole MCCB footprint; it fits existing SENTRON panel cutouts and busbar systems without modification. IP40 protection on the front means it's protected against tools and small wires entering the enclosure — standard for indoor panel mounting. No undervoltage release or ground-fault monitoring is built in, so those functions must be added externally if the application requires them.
