63 A MCCB with 187 kA interrupting capacity — line protection for high-fault panels
Its interrupting capacity reaches 187 kA at 240 V AC, dropping to 121 kA at 415/440 V and 79 kA at 500 V — figures that suit main or feeder protection in high-fault industrial switchboards where the available short-circuit current exceeds typical MCCB ratings.
The 63 A rating holds up to 50 °C ambient; above that the breaker derates linearly to 53.55 A at 70 °C. Maximum power loss is 4 W. These limits matter when the breaker is enclosed in a non-ventilated panel or mounted near other heat sources — the derating curve (55 °C: 60.6 A, 60 °C: 58.3 A, 65 °C: 55.9 A) should be applied to avoid nuisance tripping.
Mechanical endurance and auxiliary configuration
The breaker is rated for 20,000 mechanical operations (latching endurance). It includes a shunt trip release (design: STL) and two HQ auxiliary switches. The auxiliary switch set (2 HQ) is sufficient for basic status indication to a PLC or remote I/O; if more contacts are needed, the 3VA platform accepts field-installable accessory modules.
Dimensions: 181 mm height, 105 mm width, 86 mm depth. The 105 mm width is the standard 3-pole MCCB footprint for the SENTRON 3VA frame; it occupies three 35 mm DIN-rail modules (each ~35 mm wide) or bolts directly to a mounting plate.
