What it is and what it does
The Siemens 3VA2163-5HL32-0HL0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 63 A continuous current across a 3-pole configuration. It's built for line protection — the primary job is to clear faults fast and keep the rest of the panel alive. The interrupting capacity hits 187 kA at 240 V AC, 121 kA at 415/440 V, 79 kA at 500 V, and 4.25 kA at 690 V, so it handles high-fault scenarios without cascading upstream.
Thermal derating and trip unit
The breaker holds its full 63 A rating up to 50 °C ambient. Above that, it derates linearly: 60.6 A at 55 °C, 58.3 A at 60 °C, 55.9 A at 65 °C, and 53.6 A at 70 °C. The electronic trip unit is an ETU320 — that's the fixed, non-communicating version, no ground-fault or phase-failure detection built in. If you need those, you're looking at a different trip deck.
Auxiliary and shunt trip configuration
This variant ships with a shunt trip (STL) release and a full auxiliary contact set: 2 auxiliary switches + 1 trip alarm switch + 1 electrical alarm switch (HQ). The integrated auxiliary trip module is order code 3VA9688-0BL30. The basic switch (the breaker core without the aux package) is 3VA2163-5HL32-0AA0. That matters if you're swapping just the trip deck or need to match a panel's existing wiring scheme.
Physical fit and panel integration
Dimensions are 105 mm wide, 181 mm high, and 86 mm deep. That depth (86 mm) is the key number for panel clearance — make sure the enclosure door clears the breaker handle and any protruding shunt-trip wiring. The 105 mm width is standard for a 3-pole MCCB in this frame class; it mounts on a DIN rail or direct-panel bolted footprint.
