What it is and what it does
The Siemens 3VA2163-5HN36-0DH0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for line protection in distribution panels. It carries a continuous current rating of 63 A across the full ambient range from 40 °C to 70 °C — no derating curve to chase up to that ceiling. Interrupting capacity is the headline: 187 kA at 240 V, 121 kA at 415 V, and still 75.6 kA at 500 V. At 690 V it drops to 3.7 kA — that tells you the arc-extinction design is optimized for the 240–500 V band where most industrial MCCBs live. Three poles, no communication module, no ground-fault monitoring. The built-in undervoltage release (UVR) and the auxiliary switch block (2 aux + 1 trip alarm HQ) are pre-configured from the factory — no field kit to add.
Where it fits in the panel
Footprint is 105 mm wide × 181 mm tall × 86 mm deep — a standard SENTRON 3VA2 frame size. It bolts into a panel or mounts on a mounting plate; no DIN-rail clip on this frame class. Operating temperature range is -25 °C to 70 °C; storage from -40 °C to 80 °C. Maximum power loss is 6.5 W — negligible for thermal budgeting in a sealed panel, but worth noting if you pack ten of these in a row.
