63 A MCCB with ETU350 — full-rated current across the ambient range
The SENTRON 3VA2163-5HN42-0AA0 is a 4-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for 63 A continuous current (Iu) with no derating needed from -25 °C up through 70 °C ambient — the full 63 A holds at every point in that operating range. That makes it a straightforward drop-in for a 63 A feeder or main breaker in a panel that sees elevated internal temperatures. Breaking capacity is 187 kA at 240 V AC, 121 kA at 415 V and 440 V, 75.6 kA at 500 V, and 3.7 kA at 690 V. At the common 415 V distribution level, 121 kA covers high-fault installations like large transformer secondaries or industrial substations without needing a current-limiting upstream device. The ETU350 electronic trip unit provides adjustable overload and short-circuit protection with an LSI curve (long-time, short-time, instantaneous). The N-conductor protection is configurable — adjustable OFF or 100% of the phase current — which matters for 4-wire systems where the neutral may need full-rated protection or none.
Panel fit and integration
Dimensions are 181 mm height, 140 mm width, 86 mm depth — a standard MCCB footprint that fits most 4-pole breaker slots in SENTRON distribution boards and third-party enclosures. IP40 on the front face means it is protected against tools and small wires entering the breaker front; the rear terminals are open to the panel interior and rely on the enclosure's own IP rating. Rated insulation voltage Ui is 800 V, so the breaker is suitable for 690 V AC systems with adequate clearance. Power loss is 4 W maximum at rated current — negligible for thermal budgeting in a crowded panel. No undervoltage release, no shunt trip (voltage trigger), no communication module, and no ground-fault monitoring are fitted on this variant. If any of those are needed, the order code must be adjusted to a version that includes them.
