What it is and what it does
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2163-5JP32-0KH0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) designed for line protection in distribution panels. It carries a continuous current rating of 63 A across the full ambient range from 40 °C to 70 °C — no derating needed up to that ceiling. The adjustable thermal-magnetic trip covers 95 A minimum to 756 A maximum, giving you a wide band to coordinate with downstream loads. Breaking capacity hits 187 kA at 240 V AC, 121 kA at 415/440 V, and still holds 75.6 kA at 500 V — only drops to 3.7 kA at 690 V, so it's a high-interrupting device for most industrial services. A built-in communication function means this breaker can report status and trip events to a higher-level control system — useful for remote monitoring or predictive maintenance on a production line. It ships with a shunt trip release (STL) and an auxiliary switch block configured as 2 auxiliary switches plus 1 trip alarm switch (HQ). There is no undervoltage release and no ground-fault monitoring module fitted; those are separate add-ons if your application requires them.
Dimensions and panel fit
The breaker measures 105 mm wide, 181 mm tall, and 86 mm deep. That 105 mm width is the standard 3-pole MCCB footprint for the SENTRON 3VA2 frame — it drops into the same mounting base as other 3VA2 three-pole units without panel rework. Depth of 86 mm leaves clearance for rear-connected busbars or cable lugs in a typical 600 mm deep enclosure.
Environmental and compliance
Operating temperature range is -25 °C to 70 °C; storage range is -40 °C to 80 °C. Maximum power loss is 4 W. The breaker includes a trip indicator and a voltage trigger for remote signaling. No other measurement function is built in.
