63 A MCCB with ETU550 — what the ratings mean for fit
The Siemens 3VA2163-5JP36-0AA0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 63 A continuous current across the full ambient range from 40 °C to 70 °C — no derating needed up to that ceiling. That 63 A holds steady at every temperature step in the spec, so the breaker delivers its full nameplate capacity in a warm panel without a sizing penalty. The ETU550 electronic trip unit gives you adjustable overload and short-circuit protection curves, plus communication capability for remote monitoring or selective coordination studies. This is a line-protection design — it guards feeders and distribution circuits, not individual motor loads. Breaking capacity runs from 187 kA at 240 V down to 3.7 kA at 690 V. At the common 415 V level it interrupts 121 kA, which covers most industrial secondary-distribution fault levels without needing a current-limiting upstream device.
Panel integration and physical fit
Dimensions are 105 mm wide, 181 mm high, 86 mm deep — a standard 3-pole MCCB footprint for DIN-rail or panel-mount installation. The IP40 front protection means it is suitable for enclosed distribution boards where the front face is behind a door or cover. Insulation voltage rated at 800 V, so the breaker is electrically rated for 690 V systems with margin. No undervoltage release or shunt trip is built in — those are separate accessories if needed.
