What this MCCB carries and where it fits
The Siemens 3VA2163-5JQ32-0AJ0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 63 A continuous current at 40 °C, with an ETU560 electronic trip unit. It holds 187 kA interrupting capacity at 240 V and 121 kA at 415 V — those numbers mean it can safely clear a bolted fault on a large distribution transformer without the arc flashing over to adjacent gear. Three poles, line protection version, no undervoltage release, no phase failure detection. The front face carries IP40 protection, so it's fine inside a dry panel enclosure; not for washdown zones.
Thermal derating and real-world current
Rated 63 A from 40 °C through 50 °C ambient. At 55 °C it drops to 60.6 A, at 60 °C to 58.3 A, at 65 °C to 55.9 A, and at 70 °C to 53.6 A. If the panel ambient runs hot — say next to a drive cabinet — size the upstream conductor for the derated figure, not the nameplate 63 A. The 4 W maximum power loss is low enough that ventilation slots in the enclosure cover are usually sufficient; no forced air needed.
Dimensions and panel fit
Width 105 mm, height 181 mm, depth 86 mm. That 86 mm depth is the body only — add clearance for the arc-chamber exhaust and cable bending radius behind the panel. The 105 mm width is standard for a 3-pole 63 A frame; it occupies three 35 mm DIN positions if mounted on a DIN rail adapter, or bolts directly to a mounting plate. Verify the busbar system pitch if retrofitting into an existing switchboard.
Trip unit and auxiliary contacts
ETU560 electronic trip unit with LSI protection curves — long-time, short-time, and instantaneous. The trip indicator gives a mechanical flag when the breaker has opened on fault, which helps during fault-finding on a dead panel. Auxiliary contact configuration is 2 auxiliary switches plus 1 trip alarm switch (HP type). That's enough for a remote status signal and a separate alarm back to the PLC. No auxiliary release (shunt or undervoltage) is fitted on this variant; if you need remote tripping, order the version with the release installed or add a field-fit kit.
