SENTRON 3VA series MCCB, 63 A, ETU850 trip unit
The Siemens 3VA2163-5KP32-0AA0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) designed for line protection. It carries a rated continuous current Iu of 63 A and is fitted with an ETU850 electronic overcurrent release, giving you adjustable trip curves for selectivity coordination on distribution feeders. Breaking capacity is 121 kA at 415 V AC and 187 kA at 240 V AC — figures that place it well above typical utility transformer fault levels, so it can clear a bolted fault without upstream devices needing to operate. At 690 V the rating drops to 3.7 kA, confirming this is a low-voltage distribution breaker, not a motor-circuit device. Full-rated current holds across ambient temperatures from 40 °C to 70 °C with no derating — the 63 A rating is flat across that range. Insulation voltage is rated 800 V, and the breaker carries IP40 protection on the front face, suitable for enclosed panel mounting.
Lifecycle and sourcing
Dimensions are 181 mm high, 105 mm wide, 86 mm deep — the standard 3VA3 frame footprint. It shares the same mounting pattern as other 3VA3 breakers, so a panel cut-out for a sibling (e.g. 3VA2163-8HM32-0AA0) accepts this unit without rewiring or re-drilling.
Panel integration and deployment
Mounts on a DIN rail or directly to a backplate via the screw terminals. The 3-pole form factor occupies approximately 105 mm of rail width. Front IP40 protection means the breaker face is splash-resistant but not washdown-rated — keep it inside a sealed enclosure for wet environments. Communication function is present on this variant (CU bus interface for the ETU850 trip unit), enabling power monitoring and remote trip indication via the SENTRON communication system. Ground-fault monitoring is not built in — specify an external RCD or add the optional ground-fault module if GF protection is required.
