What this MCCB is and what it does
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2163-5KP32-0CA0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 63 A continuous current, designed for line protection in distribution panels and switchgear. It carries a 187 kA interrupting capacity at 240 V, dropping to 121 kA at 415 V and 440 V, 75.6 kA at 500 V, and 3.7 kA at 690 V — so the available fault current at your service voltage is what determines whether this frame holds or you need to step up to a higher-rated SENTRON frame. This is a line-protection design, not a motor-protective breaker — it's sized for feeder and branch-circuit duty where you need selective coordination downstream. The 63 A rating holds flat across the full ambient range from 40 °C to 70 °C, so no derating headache in a warm enclosure.
Undervoltage release and communication
Factory-fitted with an undervoltage release (UVR) — the auxiliary release type is undervoltage, meaning the breaker trips if supply voltage drops below a set threshold. This is common in safety circuits where a loss of control voltage must open the main contacts. The UVR is wired separately; verify coil voltage compatibility with your control transformer before panel build. The breaker includes a communication function and an other measurement function for remote monitoring and energy metering via the SENTRON bus.
Footprint and panel fit
Dimensions: 105 mm wide, 181 mm tall, 86 mm deep. The 86 mm depth includes the arc chamber and terminals.
