What it is and what it does
The Siemens 3VA2163-5KP36-0AA0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 63 A continuous current across the full ambient range from 40 °C to 70 °C — no derating needed up to that ceiling. Three poles, line-protection design, with an ETU850 electronic overcurrent release that gives you adjustable trip curves for selectivity coordination downstream. Breaking capacity hits 187 kA at 240 V and 121 kA at 415 V, so it handles high-fault utility feeds without cascading upstream. At 690 V it still clears 3.7 kA — enough for most industrial motor circuits at that voltage.
Where it fits
Mounts in a standard panel on a DIN rail or direct-screw base. Dimensions: 105 mm wide by 181 mm tall by 86 mm deep — three-pole wide, so plan for that slot width in the gland plate layout. IP40 on the front keeps dust out of the enclosure face; the body itself is open-frame inside the panel. Communication function is built in (no external module needed for basic signaling), and the ETU850 release supports ground-fault and other measurement functions if you enable them. No undervoltage release or trip indicator on this variant, so if you need those, look at the -5KP36-0AA0 suffix options.
