Molded case circuit breaker for motor protection
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2163-5MN32-0BC0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 63 A continuous current across the full ambient range from 40 °C to 70 °C — no derating needed up to that ceiling. Its interrupting capacity at 240 V is 187 kA, dropping to 121 kA at 415 V and 440 V, then to 75.6 kA at 500 V, and 3.7 kA at 690 V. This is a motor-protection design with integrated undervoltage release and phase failure detection, per the product designation. The 187 kA at 240 V means this breaker can safely interrupt a fault current up to that level without upstream cascading — critical for high-fault installations like large motor control centers or transformer-fed switchboards. The 63 A rating holds flat through 70 °C, so you don't lose headroom in a warm enclosure.
Dimensions and panel fit
The breaker measures 105 mm wide, 181 mm high, and 86 mm deep — a standard footprint for this class of SENTRON MCCB. Panel layout and bus-bar spacing should accommodate these dimensions; verify cutout and mounting hole pattern against the existing panel design.
Electrical characteristics and protection
Maximum power loss is 6.5 W. The breaker includes an undervoltage release (UVR) and phase failure detection, both factory-fitted. It does not include a ground-fault monitoring module or communication function. The auxiliary switch configuration is two HQ auxiliary switches. The supplied basic switch order code is 3VA21635MN320AA0.
