MCCB with ETU350M — what the ratings mean for your panel
The Siemens 3VA2163-5MN32-0CL0 is a 3-pole SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for motor protection, carrying 63 A continuous at 40 °C and holding that rating through 50 °C — only dropping to 60.48 A at 55 °C and 56.7 A at 70 °C, so it handles warm enclosures without derating prematurely. Breaking capacity hits 187 kA at 240 V, 121 kA at 415/440 V, 75.6 kA at 500 V, and 17 kA at 690 V, which covers most industrial service-entrance and feeder applications where high fault current is expected. The ETU350M electronic trip unit enables phase-failure detection and adjustable protection curves, with an undervoltage release (UVR) built in. Auxiliary contact configuration is 2 auxiliary switches + 1 trip alarm switch + 1 electrical alarm switch (HQ).
Physical fit and panel integration
Dimensions are 105 mm wide × 181 mm high × 86 mm deep — fits standard SENTRON 3VA2 panel cutouts and busbar systems. The 3-pole frame accepts plug-in or fixed mounting; the undervoltage release (UVR) and auxiliary switch block are factory-integrated, so no field wiring of separate accessories is needed for the basic protection and signaling functions.
Electrical environment and approvals
Rated insulation voltage Ui is 800 V. Maximum power loss is 75 W. Operating temperature range is -25 °C to 70 °C; storage range is -40 °C to 80 °C. The ETU350M trip unit supports phase-failure detection and is adjustable — no communication function on this variant. Compliance documentation (RoHS, REACH, UL, IEC) is provided by Siemens with the unit.
