Motor protection MCCB with ETU350M release
The Siemens 3VA2163-5MN32-0HL0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) in the motor protection version, rated for a continuous current Iu of 63 A and carrying an interrupting capacity of 187 kA at 240 V, 121 kA at 415 V, and 75.6 kA at 500 V. The ETU350M electronic overcurrent release provides phase failure detection and adjustable trip settings, making it suited for protecting motor feeders in industrial control panels.
The 63 A rating holds from 40 °C up to 50 °C ambient, then derates to 60.48 A at 55 °C, 59.22 A at 60 °C, 57.96 A at 65 °C, and 56.7 A at 70 °C. Maximum power loss is 75 W. For a panel builder, the derating curve means the breaker can be mounted in a warm enclosure without oversizing, as long as the actual load current stays under the derated value at the expected internal temperature.
