Motor protection MCCB with ETU350M release
The Siemens 3VA2163-5MN32-0HL0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) in the motor protection version, rated for a continuous current Iu of 63 A and carrying an interrupting capacity of 187 kA at 240 V, 121 kA at 415 V, and 75.6 kA at 500 V. The ETU350M electronic overcurrent release provides phase failure detection and adjustable trip settings, making it suited for protecting motor feeders in industrial control panels.
Thermal derating and operating limits
The 63 A rating holds from 40 °C up to 50 °C ambient, then derates to 60.48 A at 55 °C, 59.22 A at 60 °C, 57.96 A at 65 °C, and 56.7 A at 70 °C. Maximum power loss is 75 W. Operating ambient range is -25 °C to 70 °C; storage range is -40 °C to 80 °C. For a panel builder, the derating curve means the breaker can be mounted in a warm enclosure without oversizing, as long as the actual load current stays under the derated value at the expected internal temperature.
Integrated auxiliary and shunt trip
This order code includes a shunt trip (STL) auxiliary release and an integrated auxiliary trip module (3VA9688-0BL30). The auxiliary contact configuration is 2 auxiliary switches plus 1 trip alarm switch plus 1 electrical alarm switch HQ. The shunt trip allows remote tripping via a control signal, which is useful for emergency-stop circuits or remote disconnect in automated lines. The supplied basic switch is 3VA2163-5MN32-0AA0.
Dimensions and panel fit
Dimensions are 105 mm width, 181 mm height, and 86 mm depth. The 3-pole frame fits standard SENTRON panel cutouts and busbar systems. Rated insulation voltage Ui is 800 V. The depth of 86 mm means it will clear most standard enclosure backplates without requiring a deep gland plate.
