Motor protection MCCB with communication and phase-failure detection
The Siemens 3VA2163-5MP32-0AA0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) designed specifically for motor protection, with a rated continuous current of 63 A across the full ambient temperature range from 40 °C to 70 °C — no derating needed up to that ceiling. Its adjustable trip class (Tc CLASS) can be set to 10A, 10/10E, 20/20E, or 30/30E. The breaker includes a communication function and phase-failure detection, so it can report status and trip events to a PLC or BMS without an add-on module.
Breaking capacity and selectivity planning
Rated short-circuit breaking capacity reaches 187 kA at 240 V, 121 kA at 415 V and 440 V, 75.6 kA at 500 V, and 3.7 kA at 690 V — the 415 V figure is the one most often used for 400 V class panels in IEC markets. With an insulation voltage rating of 800 V, this MCCB can be applied in 690 V systems where the upstream transformer supports it. Dimensions are 181 mm high, 105 mm wide, and 86 mm deep — a standard 3-pole MCCB footprint that fits most Siemens SENTRON distribution panels and retrofit cutouts.
