The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2163-5MQ32-0AA0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 63 A continuous current across the full ambient range from 40 °C to 70 °C — no derating needed up to that ceiling. It is designed specifically for motor protection, with built-in phase failure detection and a communication function for integration into higher-level control systems.
Breaking capacity and selectivity
This MCCB delivers 187 kA interrupting capacity at 240 V, 121 kA at 415 V and 440 V, 75.6 kA at 500 V, and 3.7 kA at 690 V. That 187 kA at 240 V is high enough to handle most secondary-side faults in large industrial distribution — it keeps selectivity with upstream breakers on high-fault panels without cascading.
Motor protection and monitoring
The motor protection design includes phase failure detection and a ground-fault monitoring version using summation current formation on the L-conductor. An undervoltage release is not fitted on this variant. The adjustable trip range spans 13 A to 63 A full-scale, with a minimum trip time of 3 s and maximum of 30 s — enough to ride through motor inrush on a pump or conveyor start.
Physical fit and environment
Dimensions are 181 mm high, 105 mm wide, and 86 mm deep — a standard 3-pole MCCB footprint that drops into most SENTRON panel-mounting bases without rewiring. Operating temperature range is -25 °C to 70 °C; storage from -40 °C to 80 °C. Maximum power loss is 4 W.
