What this MCCB is and what it protects
The Siemens 3VA2163-6HL32-0JH0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 63 A continuous current across the full 40 °C to 70 °C ambient range — no derating needed up to 70 °C. Three-pole design, line-protection version, with a shunt trip (STL) release and an auxiliary switch block carrying two auxiliary switches plus one trip-alarm switch (HQ). Interrupting capacity hits 242 kA at 240 V AC, 187 kA at 415 V, and still delivers 121 kA at 500 V.
What the ratings mean for your panel
The 63 A frame is flat-rated across the operating temperature range — no thermal derating curve to calculate below 70 °C. That simplifies panel budgeting: the breaker delivers its full nameplate at the back of a warm enclosure. The interrupting capacity at 240 V (242 kA) is well above typical service-entrance fault levels, giving selectivity headroom downstream. At 690 V the rating drops to 3.7 kA, so this is a low-voltage distribution breaker, not a 690 V motor-circuit device.
Panel fit and integration
Dimensions: 105 mm wide, 181 mm high, 86 mm deep. Mounts on a standard DIN rail or direct panel-mount. The shunt trip (STL) allows remote tripping from an emergency-stop circuit or PLC output. The auxiliary switch block provides two form-C contacts for status feedback and one dedicated trip-alarm contact — enough for a motor control center (MCC) bucket or a distribution panel with remote monitoring.
