63 A MCCB with ETU320 — what the ratings mean for fit
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2163-6HL36-0AE0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 63 A continuous current at 40 °C, with the ETU320 electronic trip unit handling overcurrent protection. That 63 A holds steady through 50 °C; above that it derates to 60.6 A at 55 °C and 53.6 A at 70 °C, so if the panel ambient runs hot, size the breaker for the actual temperature, not the nameplate. Interrupting capacity hits 242 kA at 240 V, 187 kA at 415 V and 440 V, and 121 kA at 500 V — numbers that put this in the high-fault-current class for industrial mains distribution. At 690 V it drops to 5 kA, so it's really a 500 V max breaker for most line-side applications. Rated insulation voltage is 800 V, and the front face carries IP40 protection — fine for a closed panel, not for washdown areas.
Mounting and integration — what fits where
Dimensions are 105 mm wide, 181 mm high, 86 mm deep — a standard SENTRON 3VA frame size. It mounts on a DIN rail or direct panel, and the 4 auxiliary switches (HQ type) give you plenty of status feedback for the PLC or alarm circuit without adding a separate aux block. No undervoltage release, no shunt trip, no communication module, no ground-fault monitoring — this is a straight line-protection breaker with the ETU320 trip unit. If you need remote trip or GF protection, you're looking at a different variant.
