63 A MCCB with full-rated thermal performance
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2163-6HL36-0BH0 is a 63 A, 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) designed for line protection. Its continuous current rating holds flat at 63 A across the full operating temperature range from 40 °C to 70 °C — no derating curve to calculate, which simplifies panel sizing in warm enclosures. Breaking capacity reaches 242 kA at 240 V, drops to 187 kA at 415 V and 440 V, 121 kA at 500 V, and 3.7 kA at 690 V. That 242 kA figure at 240 V covers high-fault utility feeds and transformer secondaries; the 187 kA at 415 V suits most European industrial distribution panels. This variant ships with an undervoltage release (UVR) and a factory-fitted auxiliary switch block carrying two auxiliary switches plus one trip alarm switch (HQ). The UVR drops the breaker on loss of control voltage — standard for emergency-stop circuits and safety isolation schemes.
Panel fit and footprint
Dimensions are 181 mm high, 105 mm wide, 86 mm deep. The 105 mm width is the standard 3-pole MCCB footprint for this SENTRON frame size — it occupies the same panel cutout as other 3VA2 breakers, so a panel laid out for a 3VA2116 variant accepts this unit without re-drilling the mounting plate or re-routing busbars. Power loss is rated at 6.5 W maximum. That is low enough to ignore for most enclosure thermal calculations, but worth noting if the panel is densely packed and ambient already runs near 70 °C.
