SENTRON 3VA2163-6HL36-0CL0 — 63 A MCCB for Line Protection
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2163-6HL36-0CL0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 63 A continuous current, designed specifically for line protection in distribution panels. It carries a breaking capacity of 242 kA at 240 V AC, dropping to 187 kA at 415 V and 440 V, 121 kA at 500 V, and 3.7 kA at 690 V. That 242 kA figure at 240 V tells you this breaker is built for high-fault locations — main service entrance or large subfeeds where available fault current is substantial. The 63 A rating holds flat across the full ambient range from 40 °C to 70 °C (–), so no derating headache in a warm enclosure. The adjustable thermal-magnetic trip range spans 95 A minimum to 756 A maximum, giving flexibility to coordinate with downstream devices. An undervoltage release (UVR) is built in, and the auxiliary switch configuration includes two auxiliary switches plus one trip alarm switch and one electrical alarm switch. A mechanical trip indicator is present. Power loss is 6.5 W maximum.
Panel Fit and Mounting
Dimensions are 105 mm wide, 181 mm high, 86 mm deep — standard SENTRON 3VA2 footprint for a 3-pole frame. It mounts on a DIN rail or bolts directly into the panel backplate. The 86 mm depth leaves clearance for rear-connected busbars and wiring troughs. Operating temperature range is -25 °C to 70 °C; storage range is -40 °C to 80 °C.
