What this MCCB carries — and what it doesn't
The 3VA2163-6HL36-0DC0 is a SENTRON 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for 63 A continuous at 40 °C, with an ETU320 electronic trip unit handling line protection. Breaking capacity hits 242 kA at 240 V and 187 kA at 415 V — that's the short-circuit rating that decides whether this breaker clears a fault before the upstream gear takes damage. No communication module, no ground-fault monitoring, and no phase-failure detection on this variant; it's a straight line-protection MCCB with an undervoltage release (UVR) and two HQ auxiliary switches built in.
Thermal derating — the real continuous current
The 63 A rating holds flat from 40 °C up to 50 °C. Above that, it steps down: 60.6375 A at 55 °C, 58.275 A at 60 °C, 55.9125 A at 65 °C, and 53.55 A at 70 °C. If your panel ambient runs hot, the actual ampacity is the derated figure, not the nameplate 63 A. The maximum operating temperature is 70 °C; storage range is -40 °C to 80 °C.
Panel fit — dimensions and auxiliaries
Footprint is 105 mm wide, 181 mm tall, 86 mm deep — standard SENTRON 3VA form factor for 3-pole frames up to 63 A. The two HQ auxiliary switches (3VA9608-0BB25 integrated) and the undervoltage release (UVR) are factory-fitted; no field-assembly required for those. Rated insulation voltage is 800 V, so it handles 480/600 V class panels without derating the insulation.
What the ETU320 release does
The ETU320 is an electronic overcurrent release with fixed settings — no field-adjustable dials. It provides long-time and short-time protection plus instantaneous trip for line protection duty. The 20 000 mechanical endurance cycles cover typical panel-switching life for a main or feeder breaker.
