Rated current and thermal derating
The Siemens 3VA2163-6HN32-0AE0 is a 3-pole SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated 63 A continuously from 40 °C through 50 °C ambient — no derating needed in a standard 40 °C panel. Above that, the ETU350 electronic trip unit follows a controlled derating curve: 60.6375 A at 55 °C, 58.275 A at 60 °C, 55.9125 A at 65 °C, and 53.55 A at 70 °C. For a panel builder sizing a 63 A feeder in a 50 °C enclosure, this breaker delivers full rating without oversizing the frame.
Breaking capacity by voltage
The interrupting rating scales with system voltage: 242 kA at 240 V, 187 kA at 415 V and 440 V, 121 kA at 500 V, and 5 kA at 690 V. At 415 V — common for industrial distribution in IEC markets — 187 kA covers high-fault scenarios like transformer secondaries or large motor control centers without needing a current-limiting upstream device.
Trip unit and auxiliary configuration
Fitted with the ETU350 electronic trip unit — adjustable overload and short-circuit protection, line protection version. Ships with 4 auxiliary switches (HQ type) for status feedback to a PLC or annunciator panel. No undervoltage release, no ground-fault monitoring, no communication module on this variant. The basic switch assembly code is 3VA2163-6HN32-0AA0.
Panel fit and environmental limits
Dimensions: 105 mm wide, 181 mm high, 86 mm deep — fits standard SENTRON 3VA2 panel cutouts and busbar systems. IP40 on the front face (protected against tools and small wires, not washdown). Operating range -25 °C to 70 °C; storage from -40 °C to 80 °C. Maximum power loss 4 W — negligible for thermal budgeting in a sealed enclosure.
