What this MCCB carries and where it fits
The Siemens 3VA2163-6HN42-0AA0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) sized for line protection in distribution panels. It carries a rated continuous current Iu of 63 A flat across the whole operating temperature range — 40 °C through 70 °C — so no derating headache when the panel runs warm. Four poles, with the ETU350 electronic trip unit giving you adjustable time-current curves (tr min 0.5 s, tr max 17 s) and N-conductor protection configurable to OFF or 100 %. What makes this one stand out is the interrupting capacity: 242 kA at 240 V, 187 kA at 415 V and 440 V, still 121 kA at 500 V. At 690 V it drops to 3.8 kA — that's the limit for high-voltage low-current faults. Rated insulation voltage Ui is 800 V, so it's comfortable in 690 V systems as long as the fault current stays under that 3.8 kA ceiling.
Panel fit and mounting
Dimensions are 86 mm deep, 140 mm wide, 181 mm tall. That 140 mm width on a 4-pole MCCB is standard for the SENTRON 3VA2 frame — it'll drop into the same panel cutout and bus-bar spacing as other 4-pole units in the series. IP40 on the front means it's protected against tools and wires over 1 mm, but not against dust ingress into the enclosure; mount it in a cabinet with a proper door seal for dirty environments.
What the ratings mean for the guy wiring it in
The ETU350 electronic trip gives you adjustable long-time pickup and delay, short-time pickup, and instantaneous settings — that's selectivity headroom downstream. Power loss is 4 W max, negligible for thermal budgeting inside the panel. Storage temperature range is -40 °C to 80 °C; operating range is -40 °C to 70 °C, so it'll sit on a shelf in a cold warehouse or run in a hot plant without complaint.
