What it is and what it does
The Siemens 3VA2163-7JQ32-0AA0 is a 3-pole SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 63 A continuous current, designed for line protection in distribution panels. It carries a flat thermal derating curve — still rated 63 A all the way from 40 °C up to 70 °C ambient, which means no de-rate headache in a warm enclosure.
Breaking capacity — what the numbers mean for fit
Breaking capacity is voltage-dependent and published per level: 330 kA at 240 V, 242 kA at 415 V and 440 V, 187 kA at 500 V, and 3.7 kA at 690 V. The steep drop at 690 V (3.7 kA) tells you this is a 240–500 V rated device for high-fault applications; at 690 V it covers only low-fault scenarios. The 800 V rated insulation voltage confirms the dielectric design supports the higher voltage, but the interrupting ability does not.
Integration and panel fit
Dimensions are 105 mm wide, 181 mm high, 86 mm deep — fits standard MCCB panel cutouts and bus-bar spacing for a 3-pole 63 A frame. The communication function (present on this variant) supports integration into a monitored distribution system, and the ground-fault monitoring uses summation current formation on the L-conductor, so it catches residual faults without a separate GFCI module.
