SENTRON 3VA2 MCCB for Motor Protection
The Siemens 3VA2163-7MN32-0BH0 is a SENTRON 3VA2 series molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 63 A continuously at 40 °C, with no derating needed up to 70 °C — it holds 63 A across the full ambient range. That flat thermal curve simplifies panel design in warm enclosures where other breakers would force a downsized main. Three-pole construction with a motor-protection trip characteristic. Phase failure detection is built in — the breaker trips on loss of a phase, preventing single-phasing damage on a motor load. An undervoltage release (UVR) is factory-fitted, allowing remote or safety-circuit dropout.
Breaking Capacity — Where It Matters
Breaking capacity is 330 kA at 240 V AC, dropping to 242 kA at 415 V and 440 V, then 187 kA at 500 V. At 690 V it still clears 3.7 kA. For a 63 A frame, that 330 kA at 240 V means it handles high-fault conditions typical on large secondary substations or near transformer secondaries — not just branch-circuit faults. The 242 kA at 415 V covers most European industrial distribution panels.
Panel Fit and Auxiliary Wiring
Dimensions: 105 mm wide, 181 mm tall, 86 mm deep. The 105 mm width is three 35 mm DIN spaces — standard for a 3-pole MCCB in this class. Mounts on DIN rail or panel-mount via the 3VA2 base. Auxiliary switch complement: two auxiliary switches plus one trip alarm switch (HQ type), pre-wired from the factory. The basic switch assembly is order code 3VA2163-7MN32-0AA0 if you need a replacement contact block.
