63 A MCCB with full thermal-magnetic curve for motor circuits
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2163-7MN32-0KC0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated 63 A across the full ambient range from 40 °C to 70 °C — no derating needed up to that ceiling, which simplifies panel thermal budgeting in a crowded enclosure. Designed specifically for motor protection (phase failure detection built in), it carries a shunt trip release (STL) and two HQ auxiliary switches for remote status feedback. The interrupting rating hits 330 kA at 240 V, dropping to 242 kA at 415/440 V and 187 kA at 500 V; at 690 V it holds 3.7 kA. That SCCR headroom at typical distribution voltages means it coordinates cleanly upstream of a motor starter without forcing a larger frame.
Panel fit and integration
Footprint is 105 mm wide × 181 mm tall × 86 mm deep — a standard 3-pole MCCB envelope that drops into a SENTRON distribution panel or a motor control center bucket without re-drilling the mounting plate. The base switch variant is 3VA2163-7MN32-0AA0; this order code adds the factory-installed shunt trip and two HQ aux switches, so no field wiring of add-on modules is required. Operating temperature range is -25 °C to 70 °C; storage range extends from -40 °C to 80 °C. Maximum power loss is 4 W.
Trip unit and protection functions
The breaker includes phase failure detection and a voltage trigger. It does not carry an undervoltage release or ground-fault monitoring, and there is no communication function or trip indicator on this variant. The shunt trip (STL) allows remote tripping from a safety circuit or emergency-stop chain. Minimum trip delay is 4 s, maximum 17 s — adjust the thermal-magnetic curve within that window to coordinate with downstream motor starters.
