63 A MCCB with full thermal derating to 70 °C
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2163-7MN36-0AF0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for 63 A continuously across the full ambient range from 40 °C up to 70 °C — no derating curve to calculate for standard panel environments. That 63 A holds at every 5 °C step, which simplifies BOM current budgeting when the breaker sits near other heat sources in a crowded enclosure. The interrupting capacity reaches 330 kA at 240 V, dropping to 242 kA at 415 V and 440 V, 187 kA at 500 V, and 3.7 kA at 690 V. For a motor-protection MCCB these numbers mean it can ride through a bolted fault on the line side of a VFD or soft starter without the upstream breaker needing to clear — selectivity headroom for the panel designer. Designed specifically for motor protection, it includes phase failure detection as a standard function — no add-on module required. The basic switch variant is 3VA2163-7MN36-0AA0; this order code adds one auxiliary switch and one trip alarm switch (HQ type) for remote status indication back to a PLC or SCADA input.
Panel fit and integration
Dimensions: 105 mm wide, 181 mm tall, 86 mm deep. The 105 mm width occupies three standard 35 mm DIN-rail module positions — verify your existing backpanel layout if replacing a different MCCB footprint. Depth at 86 mm leaves clearance for rear-connected busbars or a gland plate behind the DIN rail. Power loss is capped at 4 W maximum, which keeps internal enclosure temperature rise manageable even in a sealed panel with multiple breakers ganged together. Operating temperature range spans -25 °C to 70 °C; storage range extends from -40 °C to 80 °C.
