What this MCCB is for — and what the ratings mean
The Siemens 3VA2163-7MS32-0AF0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker from the SENTRON series, designed specifically for starter protection — meaning it protects motor starters and their branch circuits against short circuits and overloads, with a trip indicator that shows when it has opened on fault. Rated 63 A continuously at ambient temperatures from 40 °C up to 70 °C — no derating needed across that range, which simplifies panel design in warm enclosures. Interrupting capacity of 330 kA at 240 V AC and 242 kA at 415/440 V AC means it safely clears very high fault currents typical on large industrial transformers or close-coupled busways; at 690 V it still interrupts 3.7 kA. Minimum operating current of 189 A and maximum of 945 A define the adjustable trip range — this breaker is sized for motor feeders in the 63 A frame but with a wide magnetic adjustment band. It carries one auxiliary switch and one trip alarm switch (HQ type) for remote status indication — no undervoltage release, no ground-fault monitoring, no communication module fitted.
Panel fit and dimensions
Mounts on DIN rail or panel-mount plate; dimensions are 105 mm wide, 181 mm tall, 86 mm deep — fits standard 3-pole MCCB cutouts in distribution boards and motor control centers. Power loss is 4 W maximum at rated load.
