MCCB for motor-starting duty
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2163-7MS32-0BL0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated 63 A continuous across the full 40 °C to 70 °C ambient range — no derating needed in a warm panel. It is designed for starter protection, meaning the trip curve is shaped to handle motor inrush without nuisance tripping while still clearing a locked-rotor fault. The interrupting ratings climb to 330 kA at 240 V and 242 kA at 415 V, so it can sit upstream of a motor starter in a high-fault-capacity distribution board without needing a current-limiting fuse ahead of it. At 690 V the interrupting capacity drops to 3.7 kA — that's the voltage limit for this frame; above that, coordination with an upstream device is required. The unit includes an undervoltage release (UVR) and a full auxiliary switch complement: 2 auxiliary switches, 1 trip alarm switch, and 1 electrical alarm switch (HQ type).
Panel fit and footprint
At 86 mm deep, 105 mm wide, and 181 mm tall, this MCCB fits a standard 3-pole MCCB footprint on a DIN rail or panel-mount backplate. The 105 mm width is the same as many 160 A frame breakers, so it occupies the same slot in a multi-breaker lineup. Maximum power loss is 6.5 W — negligible for thermal budgeting in a sealed enclosure, but worth noting if you pack several in a row without ventilation.
